• Download

Note: Before you start downloading, you should close all files currently open on your computer. Then follow the steps below: (See Screenshot 1)

1. Click the Download Button on QFX Software's download page. The link takes you to the KeyScrambler Personal download page of Download.com.
2. Click the Download Now Button on Download.com. KeyScrambler is downloaded on your computer.
3. Click the Downward Arrow at the top right of your computer screen. The KeyScrambler_Setup.exe file you've just downloaded pops up.
4. Click the KeyScrambler_Setup.exe file.

Note: In this example, the browser in use is Firefox. Firefox will pop up a small dialog box asking: "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" Make sure you see "Verified publisher: QFX Software Corporation" and click Yes. The KeyScrambler Personal Setup Wizard appears and begins the installation.

Note: For Pro or Premium, click the corresponding Download button and follow the rest of the steps.

• Alternate Download

1. click the Alternate Download Link right under the Download Button. KeyScrambler Personal starts downloading right away. (See Screenshot 2)
2. Click the Downward Arrow at the top right of your computer screen. The KeyScrambler_Setup.exe file you've just downloaded pops up.
3. Click the KeyScrambler_Setup.exe file. If your browser is Firefox, Firefox will pop up a small dialog box asking: "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" Make sure you see "Verified publisher: QFX Software Corporation" and click Yes. The KeyScrambler Personal Setup Wizard appears and begins the installation.

• Install

The KeyScrambler Personal Setup Wizard will guide you through the installation with simple directions (See Screenshot 3):

1. Click Next.
2. After you read the License Agreement, click I Agree.
3. Your KeyScrambler file is located in the Windows Programs Menu by default. If you wish to save it in a different folder, click Browse to choose. In either case, click Next.
4. Click Finish to complete the installation.

Your computer shuts down and restarts automatically. The green Overlay Window and the Tray Icon appear on your computer screen. Once installed, KeyScrambler is on all the time without you having to do anything.

• Install KeyScrambler Pro or Premium

For KeyScrambler Professional or Premium, in the Installer a dialog box will open that says: "Please enter your email address and product key" (See Screenshot 4).

1. Enter the correct info.
2. click OK. And follow the rest of the directions to complete the installation.

* Note: Immediately after you purchase KeyScrambler Pro or Premium, you will receive your product key in the Order Confirmation from QFX Software. Please check your email for it. You should save your product key in a folder for future use.

• Uninstall

1. Click the Start Button. The Windows Programs Menu opens.
2. Click KeyScrambler. The folder opens with a list of KeyScrambler files.
3. Click Uninstall KeyScrambler. All your KeyScrambler program files are deleted from your computer.

• Overlay Window

The Overlay Window consists of five elements (See Screenshot 6):

When you type in a protected app, the Overlay Window appears on your computer screen. When you stop typing, the Overlay Window fades away in 4 seconds.

• Tray Icon

Located in the Tray Area at the bottom right of your computer screen, the Tray Icon has three functions (See Screenshot 7):

1. Its color indicates KeyScrambler's operating status: Green when the program is active. Yellow when inactive (This happens when the app in use is not protected by the KeyScrambler Edition you are using). Red when it is turned off.
2. Double-clicking the tray icon turns KeyScrambler on or off.
3. Right-clicking the Tray Icon brings up the Mini Menu, a convenient way to control on/off actions and to access the Options Dialog.

* Note: If you are using Windows 7 or 8, at times your KeyScrambler tray icon may be invisible in the tray area. Click the link: Make the tray icon visible  »

• Options Dialog

Six tabs -- General, Display, Update, Advanced, Anti-Profiling, and About -- open up to six individual dialog boxes in the Options Dialog, where you can change some of KeyScrambler's default settings. Three ways to bring up the Options Dialog »

1. Display: Hide the Overlay Window

The default setting selects Both to display the Overlay Window and the Tray Icon. To hide the Overlay Window from plain view, select Tray Icon and click OK. The deselected Overlay Window disappears from your computer screen (See Screenshot 8).

* Note: We suggest that you keep the Tray Icon visible on your screen at all times. It offers convenience and keeps you informed of KeyScrambler's operating status.

2. Advanced: Disable Support for East Asian Languages

The default setting selects Support East Asian Language Input (Pro or Premium) to protect your keyboard entries in Chinese, Japanese, and/or Korean. If you don't need this feature, deselect it and click OK (See Screenshot 9).

** Note: This option is not compatible with HP notebooks that have the QuickPlay software installed. You should either keep this option unselected or uninstall QuickPlay.

3. Change the strength of Anti-Keystroke-Profiling

Currently in beta, this feature is unselected by default. If you've chosen to check it, you notice that the strength for Anti-Keystroke-Profiling is set at 3, the middle point, which means that at this strength a balance exists between effective alteration of your natural keystroke flow against keystroke profiling and the extent to which the alteration is visible to you. If you wish for stronger protection against keystroke profiling, you can move the blue indicator to the right. (See Screenshot 10)

* Note: Strength greater than 3 will result in a more than average amount of variations--longer pauses and more frequent jumps--in your keystroke flow, hence a more distorted typing pattern for keystroke profiling websites.

• Three Ways to Bring up the Options Dialog

1. Use Overlay Window.
2. Use Tray Icon.
3. Use the Windows Programs Menu: Click the Start Button. Then KeyScrambler. And then KeyScrambler Options.

• Make Overlay Window and Tray Icon Reappear

If you've hidden them from sight and now want them back on your computer screen, you need to go to the Windows Programs Menu to access KeyScrambler's Options Dialog.

1. Click the Start Button. The Windows Programs Menu opens.
2. Click KeyScrambler. A list of KeyScrambler files appears.
3. Click KeyScrambler Options. The Options Dialog opens.
4. Click Display. The Display Dialog Box shows up.
5. Select Both.
6. Click OK.

In this dialog box, you can also change the position of the Overlay Window on your screen. Select your desired position in the Location Area. Then click OK.

• Stop Running Pro or Premium

1. Right-click the Tray Icon. The Mini Menu opens.
2. Click Exit. KeyScrambler stops encrypting your keystrokes.

• Resume running Pro or Premium

1. Click the Start Button. The Windows Programs Menu opens.
2. Click KeyScrambler. The folder opens with a list of KeyScrambler files.
3. Click KeyScrambler on the list. KeyScrambler resumes encrypting keystrokes.

• Four Ways to Turn KeyScrambler On/Off

1. Double-click the Tray Icon to turn KeyScrambler on/off.
2. Right-click the Tray Icon to bring up the Mini Menu. Uncheck Enable KeyScrambler Protection to turn KeyScrambler off.
3. Bring up the Options Dialog and the General Dialog Box opens. To turn KeyScrambler off, uncheck Enable KeyScrambler Protection and then click OK. Three ways to bring up the OPTIONS Dialog »
4. You can also press the hot key "Ctrl+Shift+K" to toggle on/off.

Note: Start KeyScrambler When Windows Starts is a function that should stay enabled at all times (default setting).
